Early this week, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa took time off his busy schedule to visit one of the country’s most popular commedians, Frank Yalu aka ‘Nginde’, at his home in Chimwankhunda Township in Blantyre City.

Nginde has been missing on the showbiz scene for sometime, a development that led to speculations about his health and well-being.

While thanking Nankhumwa for for visiting him, Yalu disclosed he is struggling to make ends meet.

“Currently, I’m doing nothing to earn a living. Life has been so difficult for me and your coming is a huge blessing to me,” Nginde informed the Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

Hon. Nankhumwa said apart from Yalu, he has learnt that several other renowned actors and actresses have been “neglected” and it is his wish to reach out to them as well.

Nankhumwa, who is also DPP Vice President for the South made a cash donation to the Yalu family has also pledged to construct a descent house for the struggling family.

Speaking on behalf of the theatre industry in Malawi, Jeremiah Mwaungulu, who is popularly known by his stage name ‘Chisi hailed Nankhumwa for his kindness and gesture saying the financial assistance will significantly transform Nginde’s life and that of his family.

“We have approached a number of people to help our brother but to no avail,” said Mwaungulu, adding that what the Mulanje Central parliamentarian has done is a clear indication that he indeed has the welfare of artists at heart.
