Malawi Government Frustrating Donors

Chakwera, Annoyed major donors

One of the country’s economic expert Dr. Betchani Tchereni has warned Malawi government against frustrating its donors by spending money and efforts on what he described as “petty issues” over an audio and removing the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) director general, Martha Chizuma from office in order to protect personal interests or a certain group of people.

Tcheleni was speaking to Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) in reaction to United States of America concerns over the direction that government has taken, frustrating the office of Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The socioeconomic expert further stated that Malawi’s economy highly sustains on donors apart from agriculture, hence needs to play its cards well.

Late last year, President Lazarus Chakwera told the nation that he had forgiven ACB director general Martha Chizuma over the leaked audio saga, but he has been silent on recent turn of events leading people to make automatic conclusions that whatever is happening is deliberate to achieve a particular goal by his administration.
